Those of us who had the good fortune to be able to attend Woldingham Day on Saturday, 14 July 2007 will remember it as one of those great days in our village’s history when so many groups and individuals worked together to make it such an enjoyable day. It was certainly, as billed, a day of music, culture, interest, sport and fun for both young and old alike at the heart of Woldingham.  The hard work and generosity of so many in our village paid off handsomely and we can all be proud of our achievement.

Thankfully, the weather was also kind permitting a very large turn out to enjoy all that was on offer.    A full programme of events and attractions ensured that there was something for everyone, all in aid the Royal Marsden Hospital Children’s Fund.

As well as visiting the stalls on the Green, residents were able to enjoy horticultural and flower shows, history and design exhibitions, vintage and classic car displays.  Children enjoyed the teacup ride, face painting and a magic show.  Discerning folk were entertained by the live band music and dance displays throughout the afternoon.  Animal-lovers loved the dog show, owls, hounds and the pony and trap while the energetic took part in the fun run, tennis activities, golf skill games, hang gliding and tug-o-war!

The barbeque did a roaring trade and the beer tent, provided by the Club, supplied gallons of Pimm’s to Woldingham’s thirsty residents - clearly their favourite tipple this summer!  And in the evening, a great party was held in the Club with music provided by our local band, The Fog, and delicious Indian cuisine supplied by Panahar of Hamsey Green.
